Reus signs in Los Angeles

According to a media report, the transfer of former national soccer player Marco Reus to the Los Angeles Galaxy in Major League Soccer (MLS) is complete. According to the broadcaster ESPN, the 35-year-old has signed a contract. The US club is expected to officially announce the midfielder’s free transfer during the course of Thursday. Soccer stars David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were also once under contract in Los Angeles.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the long-time professional from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund will receive a contract with the five-time MLS Cup winners until December 2025, plus an option to extend. BVB had not offered Reus a new contract after twelve years. However, the Dortmund native said he was keen on “a new adventure”.

After a weak preseason in 2023, in which LA missed the playoffs, Galaxy is currently one of the title contenders. With Reus as another offensive alternative, they are aiming to win their first MLS Cup title since 2014.
