Action to rescue a kitten in Zagreb: ‘Firemen came twice to pull him out’

Today’s dose of positive news comes from Zagreb of Sava street, where on Thursday night, a man was rescued from the sewers. Firefighters went to the field twice, because yesterday morning when they first arrived, there was no sword to be seen or heard. It was only the second time, more than 12 hours later, that the firemen and the police were called again and managed to get the unfortunate man out. The story of mačiću would not have had a happy ending had it not been for one post on Facebook.

But let’s start from the beginning.

Yesterday morning, a worried announcement appeared on social networks that since the evening before, meowing has been coming from the sewers. Već 10 minutes later, a Blue Cross volunteer arrived at the scene, and there were several were two wonderful people who also saw the post and got worried.

Firefighters and the police arrived at the call, actively looking for knives in the sewers, and the Dumovec asylum joined in.

– Around 10 in the morning, there was no mačić to be seen or heard. The firefighters, the Savska station and the policemen from the Nehajska station worked hard, lifting concrete blocks, checking everything, but there was no knife. We hoped that he still managed to get out on his own, but just in case – the announcement reads. But the volunteer had no peace of mind, so she decided to check the night again when there is less traffic.

The volunteer, along with two other people, managed to lure the cat to speak, by listening to a YouTube video with the sound of the cat’s mother. Then the firefighters, the police and the team from Dumovac were called again.

– But the biggest thanks to the firefighters who came from the Savska station, now here is the second shift. Not only did they not hold grudges against the people who saw them in the middle of the night. pulled out onto the road because of the knife, but they checked everything themselves, moved the blocks, crawled into the sewers, tried to push the knife with a cable, and thought about how to get it out… and in the end, they didn’t give up until mačić he was not safe – they wrote in the post.

The knife was taken by a volunteer, and now it is in the Blue Cross Association. As they say, apart from the fact that it is a cat that needs attention, apart from the fact that it is very hungry, it seems relatively healthy.
