Romania arrests suspects in murder of Israeli crime boss in Istanbul

Turkish police said Romanian law enforcement agencies have arrested three suspects in the murder of Israeli citizen Anas al-Qadir from Kafr Yasif, which took place on Monday, August 19, in Istanbul.

According to the investigation, immediately after the murder they left Turkey via the border with Bulgaria.

The day before, four suspects in connection with the murder were detained in Istanbul.

Al-Qadir was shot dead in his car. His friend, also an Israeli citizen, and a Turkish bodyguard who was with him were seriously wounded.

Turkish media called him a “Palestinian businessman” and claimed that the motive for the murder was a financial dispute. However, according to Israeli police, al-Qadir was a major crime boss and was killed as part of a criminal showdown between Israeli Arab clans.
