US and Iraqi military personnel conducted a joint operation to identify militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization in the Iraqi province of Anbar, the Times of Israel reports.
At least 15 militants were killed and seven American servicemen were wounded. The goal of the operation was to “disrupt the ability of ISIS to plan and carry out attacks on civilians.”
US Central Command (Centcom) said the operation followed an attack by a heavily armed group of militants, including suicide bombers wearing explosive belts.
