FC Augsburg signs midfielder Claude-Maurice

FC Augsburg has struck again on the transfer market and signed the attacking midfielder Alexis Claude-Maurice. As the Bundesliga club announced, the 26-year-old Frenchman signed a contract until June 30, 2027. His contract with OGC Nice had recently expired.

Claude-Maurice brings with him the experience of 102 matches in the French first division, scoring ten goals and providing eleven assists. He is versatile in attacking midfield and can therefore replace Arne Engels. The 20-year-old moved to Celtic Glasgow.

“I am at the best age for football and I want to help the team with good performances and hopefully also with goals and assists so that we have a successful season,” announced former junior international Claude-Maurice.

Playing experience from the French first league

“Alexis brings a lot of playing experience from the top French league and the junior national teams. He can be used in a variety of offensive positions. With his technical skills, agility and creativity, he should give our offensive game important impetus, especially in the final third,” explained sporting director Marinko Jurendic.

Shortly before the end of the transfer period, Augsburg had already signed midfielder Frank Onyeka (26, FC Brentford) and central defender Chrislain Matsima (22, AS Monaco).
