Lebanon FM: Israel Not Interested in Ceasefire in Lebanon

Lebanon’s Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib said Israel had conveyed a message to Beirut through intermediaries expressing its disinterest in a ceasefire in Lebanon even if a deal was reached in the Gaza Strip, Bouhabib told Al Jazeera.

In July, Buhabib told Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz that Beirut does not want war.

“We are interested in peace, we do not want war,” said Bukhabib’s statement, conveyed to Katz through their Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov.

The Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah began shelling northern Israel shortly after Hamas launched a massive attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The war is in its 337th day. There is a real threat of a full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon.
