Saudi Arabia has condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement on the need to maintain Israeli control over the Philadelphi Corridor, a strip on the border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.
“This is an absurd attempt to justify Israel’s violation of international law. It is a provocation designed to undermine the efforts of international mediators,” the kingdom’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, Egyptian officials said they would not tolerate an Israeli presence on the border with the Gaza Strip, including the Rafah crossing.
