Record display of drones and fireworks causes fever in China

Nearly 16,000 drones and nearly 7,500 fireworks simultaneously lit up the sky of Liuyang city, Hunan province, on the evening of October 17, setting two world records.

This performance is part of the activities of the 17th Liuyang Fireworks Cultural Festival.

The two main performances of the show set two Guinness World Records, including “World’s largest drone lineup carrying fireworks” and “Most number of drones controlled simultaneously by one computer.” The event marks a new step forward in combining automatic flight technology with traditional fireworks art.

In the daytime performance called “Listen to the sound of blooming flowers”, thousands of drones fly in formation to simulate the DNA double helix in the blue sky. Following the rhythm of fireworks blooming, the image of DNA slowly turns into seeds, sprouts and blooms into giant flowers. The drone lineup then continued to transform into a flying butterfly image, expressing the message of harmony between nature and light art, exciting the audience below.

When night falls, the show switches to a performance with drones forming a giant tree with swaying branches and leaves, symbolizing vitality. From the tree canopy, thousands of golden feather-shaped fireworks simultaneously shot up, shining brightly, creating a cascading light effect.

Videos recording this moment spread quickly on social networks. The keyword “Liu Duong fireworks are like this now” climbed to the top of local trends on Douyin social network. Many users commented, “Luu Duong fireworks never disappoint.”

The program is organized by Liuyang Fireworks and Explosives Association, with technical support from Gaojuchuang Drone Company. The intelligent control system helps to accurately synchronize every millisecond between fireworks and drone light, providing a large-scale performance, seamlessly combining tradition and modern technology.

According to the local government, the event not only affirms Luu Duong’s innovation capacity but also opens up a new development direction for the world fireworks industry, which is environmentally friendly, safe and rich in performance.

Previously, a fireworks display combined with drones in Liuyang city on the evening of October 14 encountered technical problems, causing many devices to fall and shoot embers towards the audience. The crowd at the festival area fled in panic.

Firefighters quickly controlled the fire within minutes. The incident caused no casualties and subsequent shows continued as planned.
