Naples was honored by Taste Atlas as a culinary paradise with many delicious dishes

Naples is the city with the best food in the world according to Taste Atlas. Must-try dishes here include Margherita pizza, gnocchi and sfogliatella cakes.

According to updates to October 25 of the famous culinary website Taste Atlas, Naples, Italy, is the city voted by many experts and diners to “have the best cuisine in the world”. The destination achieved 5/5 stars and is the only city to achieve this absolute score.

Culinary tourism is increasingly popular, leading to activities such as food tours and cooking classes, which both provide cultural knowledge and a way to support the local economy. For many tourists, enjoying local dishes is an important part of connecting with the daily lives of local people.

Experts list margherita pizza, gnocchi pasta and sfogliatella – a shell-shaped pastry with a cream filling – as must-trys when visiting the port city of Naples.

Naples’ culinary traditions are linked to the history of the ancient port city, with a cuisine influenced by Greek, Roman and other cultures, and a rich history as the capital of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.

This blend of cultures is evident in the dishes, from the elaborate recipes of the aristocracy to sophisticated street food made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients such as volcanic tomatoes and seafood.

Naples is not the only Italian city on this list, Milan took second place and Bologna took third place. Milan is famous for dishes like risotto alla Milanese and panettone, while Bologna is considered the birthplace of ragù sauce.

The list of destinations is selected from over 17,000 cities around the world, based on the highest average rating for the local dishes most commonly served there.

Vietnam has three cities in the top 100, including Hue (35th) with an average culinary score of 4.53/5 stars. Hanoi ranked 40th, average score reached 4.5 and Ho Chi Minh City ranked 56th, average score reached 4.45.
