A flight from Israel to Budapest had to return to Israel

An El Al flight that took off for Budapest was diverted to Belgrade, apparently because of heavy fog that made it impossible to land at the destination. A few hours after landing in Belgrade, the plane tried again to take off to Budapest, but when it failed, everyone returned to Israel. In addition, many flights to Dubai were canceled due to heavy flooding in the area

The weather is raging – and flights are canceled: After yesterday (Thursday) we reported on a flight that took off from Tel Aviv to Prague and landed in Berlin, due to weather conditions, now it turns out that another flight did not reach its destination.

This is an El Al flight that took off for Budapest, but due to weather conditions was diverted to Belgrade. The passengers stayed at the destination for a few hours, after which they all returned to Israel on the same plane.

The reason is apparently heavy fog that does not allow certain planes, or pilots without proper training, to land in conditions of poor visibility. In addition to these, this morning, many flights to Dubai were canceled or delayed due to abnormal weather at the destination that caused heavy flooding. Most of the flights were by Fly Dubai, and another flight by Arkia.

Yesterday Kobi, one of the passengers on the flight that landed in Berlin, said: “We were supposed to take off today at 11:00 and the flight only took off at 12:15. We were supposed to land in Prague at 15:00, but due to extreme weather that included heavy fog, the flight was moved to Berlin where it landed at 16:05.”

Kobi says that “from that moment we sat on the plane for 3 hours and they didn’t allow us to get off in the hope that we could take off again. They didn’t give us food or water, and for a long time we didn’t know what was going on, and that’s how we found ourselves sitting in the plane for over 8 hours.”

The company sent the passengers a message that read: “We would like to inform you that due to unusual weather conditions in the Prague airport area, which did not allow a safe landing, the plane had to land in Berlin as an alternative destination for the purpose of maintaining your safety and the safety of the flight.”
