Fatal boat accident in the desired destination: a tourist was killed

A tourist boat with 55 people on board collided with a fishing boat and sank off the coast of Thailand – an 18-year-old woman was killed. According to reports, 52 passengers and three crew members aboard the small motor boat (speedboat), Korawich Marine 888, were thrown into the sea in the Koh Phi Phi area, a popular tourist destination in the southwest of the country.

The collision took place near the especially popular tourist destination of Phuket. The boat capsized before sinking into the sea, with its front section torn off as a result of the collision.

According to reports, at least 12 tourists were injured, while one woman was taken to hospital in critical condition. It was later reported that the girl, believed to be a Russian citizen named Elizaveta S., passed away.

Eyewitnesses described dire scenes of panic in the water, as passengers tried to help their loved ones stay above sea level. According to one testimony, “people were screaming and holding each other.”
