The passenger decided to do one of the most annoying things on the flight

Another acute question, to which no clear answer has been found to this day: Do we have to close the sun visor in the window after takeoff? A passenger named Kelly Meng recently uploaded a Tiktok video about this issue that has reached over 200,000 views.

“Let me tell you a personal story that happened to me and it’s really crazy,” says Meng. “I flew from Chicago to Tokyo on a plane where there were three sets of three seats in each row. Only two of those seats, the far left and the far right, offer access to the windows, and on the new planes it’s not a traditional blind but darkens with the push of a button. It’s dark but light still comes in because it can’t be 100 percent sealed.”

She continues: “The entire flight was sunny due to the timing and direction of the flight. After the meals were served and most of the passengers on the flight tried to sleep, a passenger sitting at the end of the middle row asked the passenger in the seat next to the window if she could darken the window due to the intensity of the sun coming in. The passenger refused and claimed that the window was at 75 percent and it was dark enough.”

From here the story got worse: “The flight attendants came to warn the passenger who did not agree to darken the window completely,” says Meng. “The passenger’s lack of self-awareness was crazy and a commotion started on the plane that ended in total blackout in the end.”

The incident caused quite a few opinions regarding the case: “People should stop asking, especially the flight attendants. The passenger should have received a clear instruction to follow, without discussion,” said one surfer. “I don’t think people realize that the blinds open on day flights are not only blinding, but also make the cabin warmer,” said another.
