Tourist attractions and buses offer free tickets during Tet Binh Ngo

Hanoi

Relics including Bach Ma temple (76 Hang Buom), relics 28 Hang Buom (Quan De temple) and Kim Ngan communal house (42-44 Hang Bac) are open for free for three days, from February 16 to 18 (ie 29 Tet to the 2nd day of Binh Ngo Tet).

Monuments and cultural spaces in Hanoi welcome visitors every day of the week. Bach Ma Temple (76 Hang Buom) is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., 28 Hang Buom relic and Kim Ngan communal house from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Heritage house at 87 Ma May and Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center (50 Dao Duy Tu) are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on February 17 (first day of Tet) and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from February 18 (2nd day of Tet) onwards.

128 bus routes will be free throughout the 9-day Tet holiday (from the 27th to the 6th of Tet). Passengers boarding the bus will be given one-way tickets according to regulations, but do not need to pay the fare. For those using monthly tickets, hard cards or electronic cards can still be presented to travel normally.

Two urban railway lines, Cat Linh – Ha Dong and Nhon – Cau Giay, are also free throughout the Tet holiday. Passengers receive 0 VND tickets at the counter or buy tickets via the application according to the instructions of the operator.

Train schedules are adjusted accordingly to serve people’s travel needs. Accordingly, on the 29th of Tet, two train lines operate from 5:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. On the first day of Tet, the train runs from 10am to 6pm, on the 2nd day of Tet, the train runs from 8am to 7pm, on the 3rd day the train runs from 6am to 8pm. From the 4th to the 6th of Tet, the train runs from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Yen Tu (Quang Ninh)

According to the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh province, tickets to visit the Yen Tu scenic spot will be free for three years, from this year’s Tet holiday, to express gratitude to the people, monks, nuns, Buddhists and tourists who have contributed to the process of protecting, preserving and building heritage records. The policy also aims to stimulate tourism, increasing the number of visitors to Quang Ninh, especially Yen Tu at the beginning of the year.

The complex of relics and landscapes of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage at the 47th session in July 2025. This is Vietnam’s 9th heritage, spanning three localities: Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong City. Before free, tickets to visit Yen Tu were 40,000 VND for adults and 20,000 VND for children.

Thanh Hoa

The world heritage site Ho Dynasty Citadel offers free admission from February 12 to 17 (ie from the 25th day of the Lunar New Year to the 1st day of the Year of the Horse). Lam Kinh Special National Monument is free of admission tickets from February 16 to 19 (ie from the 29th of Tet to the 3rd day of Tet). In addition, visitors to the Ho Dynasty Citadel heritage site also receive free interpretation services.

All destinations are decorated and landscaped to welcome Spring in sync with flags, banners, spring flowers and check-in spaces recreating the past and present Tet. The Ho Dynasty Citadel has outstanding activities such as displaying photos with the theme “Ho Dynasty Citadel – Outstanding Global Value”, displaying spring flowers and ornamental plants “Ancient Capital Spring Flowers”, recreating the ancient Tet space with the theme “Ancient Tet Citadel”.

In addition, many heritage education programs and traditional cultural experience activities and events are also held such as: the ceremony, releasing the Cong fish in the Royal Palace, calligraphy festival and art programs to welcome spring.

Lam Kinh Special National Monument has activities displaying photo exhibitions introducing historical and cultural values ​​of Lam Kinh, a calligraphy festival, an opening ceremony at the temple of King Le Thai To on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year and a spring festival at the temple of Trung Tuc Vuong Le Lai on the 8th day of the Lunar New Year.

Hue City

Vietnamese citizens are exempt from tickets to visit relic sites in the Hue Monuments Complex on February 17 (the first day of Tet). The scope of application is the Citadel, Nguyen Dynasty royal tombs such as Minh Mang, Tu Duc, Khai Dinh… and An Dinh palace. This is the policy of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to encourage people to visit heritage sites during Tet.

Quang Tri

According to the Management Board of Special National Monuments on the banks of Hien Luong – Ben Hai, the relic space has been completely renovated, ready to serve visitors during Tet, with free money and lucky money for visitors at the beginning of the year, until March 1. The management board arranges on-duty staff and guides when required. The attractions are mainly outdoor and the exhibition halls are open from time to time when needed.

The old steel bars of Hien Luong bridge have been completely replaced and the bridge frame has been painted in two new colors: blue and yellow. The border flagpole was reinforced from an old pole more than 20 years old, painted nearly black.

Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center announced the implementation of the ticket-free program from February 16 to 19 (Tet 29 to Tet 3). Specifically, passengers get free access on 105 subsidized bus routes. Phuong Trang Company also offers free tickets for non-subsidized routes including 67, 109, 172, 60-1, 60-3, 60-7 and 63-1.

Urban railway line No. 1 Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien is free of tickets on February 16 and 17 (29 and 1 day of Tet).

To serve people having fun at the center and watching fireworks, metro line No. 1 will increase flights and extend operating hours after New Year’s Eve. The train departs at 0:34 a.m. at Ba Son station, at 0:38 a.m. at City Theater station and from 0:42 a.m. at Ben Thanh station, with an interval of 4-6 minutes per trip. From February 18 to 22 (1st to 6th of Tet), the metro operates from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Subsidized bus routes will flexibly adjust the number of trips and increase bus stations and airports. On February 16 (Tet 29), the routes end at 12:00 p.m., on February 17 (the first day of Tet), buses operate from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Some routes such as 9, 20, 47 and 74 have their own operating times, departing from 3:30 or 5:00 depending on the terminal. From February 22 (the 6th of Tet), 108 routes will restore normal operating hours.
