Alpine cuisine: AlpiNN Restaurant on Kronplatz

LThe way to life is through your stomach, they say. In this restaurant, light goes through the stomach: lamps with shades made from pig stomachs dangle from the ceiling. The floor is made of larch wood, the ceiling panels are made of hand-dyed wool fabrics from the Bruneck textile company Moessmer, and tables and chairs are made by carpenters from the valley. The interior of the “AlpiNN” restaurant on the summit of Kronplatz was designed by the South Tyrolean designer Martino Gamper. The view outside is almost even more aesthetic than the restaurant glass box that seems to float above the valley run: through the floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows you can marvel at “the most beautiful architecture in the world,” as the city planner Le Corbusier called the Dolomites.
