After an attack by Iran – the largest field in the world is completely closed

While Iran continues to simultaneously attack several targets in the Middle East, including Dubai, the local airport was hit by an attack during which 4 employees were injured. Following the incident at the airport, they activated an emergency protocol and quickly evacuated all passengers from the area and the huge airport was closed to flights.

This is a very hard blow to the entire aviation world, since the Dubai airport is the largest in terms of passengers on international flights, and every day about 300 thousand passengers pass through it. It is second overall only to the airport in Atlanta, which leads mainly because of domestic flights in the US.

For years, Dubai has been used as a leading airport for connecting flights, and Israelis also fly from it on their way to many destinations in the East. For the Israelis, it has grown even more in the last two years, after the airport in Istanbul, which served as a connecting route, was closed for us.

The airport management stated that “passengers are advised not to arrive at the field at all at this stage and contact their airlines directly to receive updates regarding their flights. We appreciate the cooperation of the passengers and more updates will be provided as we continue to monitor the situation.”

“It was not an easy night,” recalls Ben, an Israeli who is in Dubai, in a conversation with mako. “There is a complete mess and no orderly instructions on how to drive, every place to itself. Yesterday evening there were telephone alarms warning of an Iranian attack, but during the night when the missile hit the luxury hotel, some people complained that they had not heard or received any warnings. From the moment the attack began, I have been in contact with the Israelis who are here to try and help in whatever way possible, because there is really nothing clear here.”
