After a violent confrontation – Israelis were arrested in the resort town

The local enforcement authorities in the resort city of Playa del Carmen in Mexico arrested two Israeli tourists following a violent confrontation with a taxi driver in the center of the city, which ended with heavy damage to the vehicle. According to local media reports, the incident took place in one of the popular tourist areas in the area, and began after the two refused to pay for the trip.

According to the police in Playa del Carmen, the two Israelis got into a taxi near the No Name bar, and asked the driver to drive them to the well-known El Fogón restaurant in the city center. Upon reaching their destination, things began to deteriorate, and eyewitnesses reported that the passengers, who were apparently under the influence of alcohol, refused to pay for the service. The verbal argument quickly escalated when the two began to act aggressively, threatening the driver and eventually causing physical damage to the vehicle by kicking the vehicle’s doors and smashing the rear window.

Immediately after causing the damage, the suspects fled the scene towards the area of the Municipal Palace (City Hall). The taxi driver called the security forces, and following the report, an extensive scanning operation was launched in the city center area. Within a few minutes, the two were located, and they were arrested by the police and taken for questioning.

The detainees are now under the responsibility of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the body entrusted with determining their legal status and formulating the indictment based on the evidence collected. At the same time, the damaged taxi was moved to a storage lot for the purpose of assessing the value of the damage caused mainly to the rear window during the incident.
