What is happening with Boeing’s problematic airplane model?

Last January, a serious safety incident occurred on an Alaska Airlines flight, when an emergency door on a 737 Max aircraft was torn from its place while the aircraft was in the air. Since the incident, investigations have begun against the company, during which they found quite a few deficiencies, and later even more failures occurred in the problematic stump, which had already been involved in fatal accidents in the past.

 

Last week, the Alaska Airlines company, which even suspended all flights in the specific model of the plane, until they finish the tests surrounding it, announced that it was returning to the company the plane in which the door was ripped off. “The company received the plane and its registration changed,” said the company’s spokesperson.

In addition, Alaska Airlines stated that they are suspending the future purchase of 737 MAX-10 aircraft that they had.

Boeing, for its part, informed all the airlines that ordered the model that is still under various tests, that the delivery of the planes will be delayed for at least 3 months. As you may recall, El Al recently announced that it signed a huge agreement with Boeing during which it will purchase 30 737 MAX aircraft to be delivered starting in 2027, in the amount of approximately 2.5 billion dollars.
