The Community Culture program It will expand its capabilities, especially in the area of ​​education and advocacy, which will not necessarily have to be for everything with the creative seedbed model.indicated the head of that instance, Claudia Curiel de Icaza.

In interview with The Day, He explained that “the creative seedbeds will continue because they have already generated community in many places and have transformed lives, as we have seen, we must have flexibility.

“The system is perfect, it works for certain areas, but we first have to strengthen our schools and work with the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), which already has the structure at the territorial level. We continue to design a community project, studying needs, so that the topic of community artistic education is quite ambitious and we can influence a very broad population.

Working directly with the enrollment that the SEP has and linking with public libraries, which are 7,600, speaks of an impressive impact. Influencing all these students, families and neighbors will allow us to continue impacting the community culture. It is about adding together everything we do and how we intervene on a national scale, in collaboration with the states, which also have many valuable projects.

Curiel, who graduated in history from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, recalled that as a cultural manager she knows very well what event productions are, which is why she proposes moving the presentation to the Zócalo of the children and young people of the seedbeds, which has been taking place in the National Auditorium, “so that it is in a public and free space.

“For example, when I was Secretary of Culture in Mexico City, we created a community orchestra with students from all the Pilares. We started with 800 and now there are more than 1,200. We presented it in the Zócalo; There were families, plus those passing by: there were 20 thousand people.

We want the public space to be a meeting point, open to everyone and thinking about this type of productions. That’s a lot of my strength, production; open, integrate and communicate.
