Turin hosted a one-of-a-kind event: from 2 to 4 December, the Italgas Gasometer in Vanchiglia was transformed into a huge interactive gaming arena. The initiative, promoted by Sony Interactive Entertainment Italia as part of the “Play has no limits” campaign, animated the historic industrial monument with a 600 m2 installation of LED lights, for a total of 15,000 pixels. Visitors were able to participate in the “Match the Shapes” game, challenging their reflexes and trying to match the iconic PlayStation shapes that appeared on the massive light screen. The event offered an engaging and innovative experience, demonstrating how gaming can arise in unusual and unexpected contexts.
The choice of the Gasometer as a location was not accidental: the monument, symbol of Turin and its industrial history, is currently at the center of an important redevelopment project that will transform it into an innovation hub. Sony’s initiative fits perfectly into this context, underlining the link between past, present and future and celebrating the value of gaming in all its forms. The event represented a local declination of the global campaign “Play has no limits”, with which Sony Interactive Entertainment intends to promote gaming as a tool for creativity, interaction and discovery.
