Reina Sofía Music School and Symphony Foundation join for musical talent in Spain and R. Dominican

The Reina Sofía Higher School and the Symphony Foundation have signed a collaboration agreement with the objective of promoting the development of musical talent and the promotion of classical music in the Dominican Republic and Spain.

This agreement includes three main axes of action. First, masterful lessons taught by teachers and alumni of the Reina Sofía School, aimed at Dominican students and musicians will be held. Second, study scholarships for young Dominican talents will exceed the admission process at school and, finally, concerts will be held in the Dominican Republic with the participation of students and alumni of the school, which will promote the cultural exchange between the two countries.

Since 1999, Fundación Sinfonía has presented in the Carlos Piantini room of the National Theater of Santo Domingo to the three winners of the Piano Piano Contest of Santander Paloma O’Shea, a historic competition held by the Albéniz Foundation in Spain since 1972.

The last edition of the contest took place in 2022, and in 2025, Sinfonía will celebrate the last ‘winners’ gala of this competition in Santo Domingo, as detailed in a statement.

The agreement has been formalized at the headquarters of the school in Madrid with the participation of the CEO of the Reina Sofía School, Julia Sánchez Abeal; of the artistic director of the institution, Juan A. Mendoza V; The president of the Sinfonía Foundation, Margarita Miranda de Mitrov and the co-president of the same entity, Marisol Rodríguez Copello.
