Football Bundesliga: Referee announcements also in the DFB Cup

After the premiere in the Bundesliga, there will also be referee announcements in the DFB Cup. The German Football Association (DFB) is expanding its pilot project. In Leverkusen on Sunday at 3-1 by Meister Bayer against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim Referee Robin Braun withdrew a penalty after VAR examination and explained the via speaker.

More tests until the end of the season

In a total of nine stadiums in the Bundesliga and the 2nd league, the announcements are tested until the end of the season. In the first four games of the first pilot project day – in Düsseldorf, Munich and St. Pauli and Frankfurt – there was no announcement because none of the referee decisions should have been corrected.

Braun initially decided on a penalty on Sunday evening in the 22nd minute after a foul by Hoffenheim’s David Jurasek to Nathan Tella. After consulting the video referee Robert Schröder, Braun took this back because Tella had previously been offside.

“Puncture was checked. According to the pictures, there was an offside position. Therefore, the decision is not a penalty, offside, ”Braun then explained about the stadium speakers.
