Huawei launches the fifth edition of the Summer School for female Leadership in The Digital Age

Helsinki will host the fifth edition of the Summer School for female Leadership in The Digital Age, organized by the European Leadership Academy (Ela) of Huawei. The announcement follows the success of the previous editions held in France, Spain, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Croatia. From 12 to 18 July 2025, the Finnish capital will therefore become the fulcrum of an intensive training program, designed to offer a training experience of excellence, comparable to that of the best MBA programs of the most prestigious international universities. The Summer School is part of the broader context of the “Seeds for the Future” program, with which Huawei actively engages in promoting digital inclusion. The goal is to provide women with a platform to access high -level training in the technological and leadership fields, thanks to complete scholarships. Through this initiative, the company aims to concretely contribute to the reduction of the gender gap, offering female reference models to students and creating a stimulating environment in which they can network and express their ideas and visions for the future.

The candidates, open until March 12, are aimed not only at the women of the 27 Member States of the European Union, Western Balkans and Ukraine, but, for the first time, also to those from Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey and Moldova. An independent jury, made up of representatives of leading companies, academics, politicians and members of civil society from all over Europe, will have the task of selecting the 25 most deserving participants. Since its foundation, Ela has received over 12,000 applications, establishing themselves as one of the main opportunities for women who aspire to reach their full potential. The program deals with a broad spectrum of themes, including leadership, artificial intelligence ethics, public speaking, emerging technologies, sustainability, entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, global collaboration and the management of European projects.

Tony Yong Jin, executive vice-president for the European Region of Huawei, underlined the importance of training for European competitiveness: “We support the competitiveness of Europe forming thousands of talents and professionals every year in the ICT sector, many of which are women. We are convinced that the right training is fundamental to allow anyone to play an important role in the construction of safer and more efficient innovative technologies “. The goal, he added, is “to create a world in which everyone, regardless of their background, can guide us towards a more sustainable future thanks to the support of technology”.

Berta Herrero, Head of Equality, diversity and inclusion of Huawei Europe and director of the European Leadership Academy, remarked on the importance of this commitment: “In 2021 we were pioneers in starting this program. Today we renew this commitment, at a time when initiatives for equality need more support than ever “. Herrero concluded by saying that the Summer School 2025 “will revolutionize the way in which Europe reconciles socio -economic inclusion with technological innovation, opening the way to a brighter future for everyone”.
