The inaugural RA-EU summit will be held in Yerevan on May 4-5

On May 4-5, the inaugural Armenia-European Union summit will be held in Yerevan, at which Armenia will be represented by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and the European Union will be represented by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, together with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

Ahead of the summit, Kosta and von der Leyen will also participate in the 8th European Political Community Summit to be held in Yerevan on May 4.

According to the press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the focus of the RA-EU summit will be on the strengthening of bilateral relations, particularly in the fields of economy, energy, transport, digital, people-to-people contacts. The leaders will also discuss progress towards peace, security, connectivity and prosperity in the South Caucasus, as well as current global challenges.

“The RA-EU summit reflects the unprecedented dynamics of bilateral partnership in recent years. The EU’s relations with Armenia are based on the “Comprehensive and Extended Partnership Agreement”, which entered into force in 2021, and the “Strategic Agenda for RA-EU Partnership” document, which was adopted in 2025 with the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan, the High Representative of the EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Kaya Kallas, and the Commissioner for EU Integration Martha Kos. at the session of the RA-EU Partnership Council held in December. The European Union is Armenia’s key partner in the reform agenda, as well as in the field of trade and investments,” the official statement said.
