“When you define Jannik as ‘a robot’ a certain image is created in your mind,” Petchey told the Tennis Channel, responding to Fonseca, “his game is actually much more complex: he is tireless in his pursuit of excellence. The tirelessness, the consistency… I understand how all this could be interpreted as a robotic attitude, but it is not: it is absolute excellence on the tennis court.”

“The way he moves is the furthest thing from a robot I’ve ever seen. The way he slides is incredibly dynamic, he has extraordinary athleticism,” explained the former tennis player, “I would rather say he’s relentless. He’s relentless with the depth of his shots, he’s relentless in not conceding an easy point.”
