After a knife attack on a regional train with a seriously injured 18-year-old near the Saarland town of Sulzbach, the suspected perpetrator was taken into custody. An investigating judge at the Saarbrücken district court issued an “arrest warrant on the strong suspicion of attempted murder in conjunction with dangerous bodily harm” against the 21-year-old, as the responsible public prosecutor announced. She did not provide any further details. The investigation into the crime and motive was ongoing.
The accused is said to have attacked the young woman. According to police, both knew each other. The young man was arrested on site. According to the police, both have German citizenship. The 18-year-old was taken to a hospital. The suspected perpetrator is presumed innocent.
Fatal attack in February
Only in February there was a fatal attack on a train attendant on a regional train on the route between Landstuhl in Rhineland-Palatinate and Homburg in Saarland. The attacker injured his victim so badly with punches to the head that he died a few days later. The case caused horror nationwide.
