If the new Constitution is not adopted by referendum, we will hold another referendum. Pashinyan

If the new Constitution is not adopted by referendum, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announces to hold another referendum.

Answering the question of “Freedom” at the briefing today, Pashinyan directly said that the authorities’ aspiration to get 2/3 in the parliamentary elections is also related to the adoption of the new Constitution.

“In addition, in order to change the Constitution, we will hold a referendum again, we will go, we will explain to our people, we will convince them, we will talk again,” added the Prime Minister.

Baku demands that the Constitution be changed and that there be no reference to the Declaration of Independence of Armenia. Pashinyan stated earlier that the force he leads is in favor of not mentioning the Declaration of Independence in the text of the new Constitution.

The government also announced that it intends to hold the constitutional referendum after the National Assembly elections, but no exact date has been specified. The project must first be approved in the parliament, and for that a simple majority is not enough, 2/3 of the votes of the deputies are needed.
