Animals: After the discovery of dead greylag goose: the all-clear at the Berlin animal shelter

The Berlin animal shelter has given the all-clear after a dead greylag goose was found on its premises. The animal welfare association said the animal population was not affected by bird flu. The security measures that had been taken in the meantime were lifted in coordination with the responsible veterinary office. The bird house will be open again as usual for visits and placements from Saturday.

According to the information, the dead goose was found almost three weeks ago. The animal was diagnosed with bird flu. Samples were then taken from the birds at the home. Now the result was available.

Among other things, pigeons, parrots and budgies live in the animal shelter. In its statement, the animal protection association referred to the ongoing tense situation in view of current evidence of animal diseases in wild and zoo birds.
