Aragchi and Bayramov expressed concern about the regional situation

According to the Azerbaijani side, Abbas Araghchi and Jeyhun Bayramov expressed deep concern about the “deteriorating regional situation”.

They emphasized that it is important to intensify diplomatic efforts to stop military conflicts in the region as soon as possible.

The previous conversation was on March 23. Bayramov reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s expectations regarding the completion of the investigation into the drone attacks carried out by Iran on Nakhichevan. It is not reported whether this topic was touched upon during this telephone conversation.

Baku on March 5 had accused Iran for striking the Nakhichevan airport and school with drones, calling it a “terrorist act” and promising an adequate response. Tehran denied its complicity in the incident, as a result of which four people were injured.

Azerbaijan’s State Security Service claimed the next day that it had prevented a series of “planned terrorist, sabotage and intelligence operations” organized by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
