A bridge literally cut in two. American-Israeli strikes targeted a bridge located near Tehran on Thursday April 2, an infrastructure already targeted earlier by an attack which left two dead, according to Iranian state television. This attack comes a day after US President Donald Trump threatened to bomb Iran “to return it to the Stone Age”.

“The American-Zionist enemy once again targeted the B1 bridge in Karaj”, a town bordering the west of the Iranian capital, the channel said, specifying that it “had already been targeted an hour before”. “This new attack took place while emergency services were being mobilized to assist the victims,” she said.

“It will never be used again”

Donald Trump immediately applauded the destruction of this strategic bridge on his Truth Social network and called on Tehran to conclude an agreement “before it is too late”. “The largest bridge in Iran is collapsing and will never be used again,” wrote the American president.

This bridge constitutes a crucial axis of communication between Tehran and Karaj. According to the Fars agency, it is even the highest bridge in the Middle East. Iranian authorities have urged people to avoid the area due to the security situation.

“Striking civilian infrastructure, including unfinished bridges, will not push the Iranians to surrender,” reacted the head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Araghchi on X. In response to the two strikes, Iran threatened to target bridges in Israel and throughout the Middle East.
