Contact Thuram-Rensch, was it a foul? Gasperini fury on Lautaro goal in Inter-Roma

Protests in Inter-Roma. Today, Sunday 5 Aprilthe Nerazzurri hosted the Giallorossi on the 31st matchday of Serie A, in a match also marked by a refereeing episode. At the start of the second half Inter actually scored with Lautaro Martinez, who scored his brace on his return from injury, in an action which, however, according to Gasperini, was marred by a foul by Thuram on Rensch.

It all happens in the 52nd minute. A long clearance from the Nerazzurri defense becomes good for Thuram’s restart. The French center forward puts pressure on Rensch, who is ahead, and blocks him, stealing the ball. The Dutchman spreads his arms to protest, the referee doesn’t blow the whistle and Thuram continues his run, then providing the assist for Lautaro.

Roma immediately protested and surrounded the referee demanding that the goal be disallowed. However, the VAR check was quick, deeming the contact between Thuram and Rensch to be regular, with the images actually showing a rather light contact, with the Dutchman letting himself fall.
