Zicai is out – DFB coach Wück is now relying on Mühlhaus

New discovery Larissa Mühlhaus is now part of the DFB squad for the two World Cup qualifying games against Austria. National soccer coach Christian Wück nominated the 23-year-old offensive player from Werder Bremen, as the association announced. Mühlhaus joins the 23-man squad for Cora Zicai. The 21-year-old from Wolfsburg is out of the games on April 14th in Nuremberg and four days later in Ried due to muscular problems.

Mühlhaus was immediately impressive in her international debut against Slovenia (5-0) a month ago and scored directly. “She has talent, she did a lot of things right, she rewarded herself,” Wück praised at the time, but initially did not make a squad spot available for Mühlhaus for the Austria games.

21,000 tickets sold for the first leg

Wück will gather his team in Herzogenaurach from Tuesday to prepare. According to its own information, the DFB has sold 21,000 tickets so far for the first leg against the bottom group with no points.

After the opening win against Slovenia and the 4-0 win in Norway, the DFB team leads the elimination group on the way to the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. Only the first group winner qualifies directly for the next big tournament.
