After Trump’s obscene tirade, Democrats propose invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him

A group of Democratic members of the US Congress have called for invoking the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove President Donald Trump from office over his threats to destroy Iran’s energy and transport infrastructure.

On April 5, US President Donald Trump published a stern warning against Iran on Truth Social, demanding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. At the same time, the president used obscene language.

“Tuesday will be a day of power plants and bridges – all in one, in Iran. Nothing like this has ever happened before! Open the fucking strait, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell – just watch!” – he wrote.

“Happy Easter, America. While you’re going to church and celebrating with friends and family, the President of the United States is acting crazy on social media. He’s threatening war crimes and alienating allies. That’s who he is, but that’s not who we are. Our country deserves so much better,” wrote Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“If I were a member of Trump’s cabinet, I would use Easter to consult with constitutional lawyers. This is simply insane. He has already killed thousands of people, now he will kill thousands more,” said Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut.

The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and members of the cabinet to declare the president unable to perform his duties. Then, with the consent of Congress, the vice president becomes acting head of state.
