Satish Sivan: The UAE has the audacity to challenge economic uncertainty

Satish Kumar Sivan, Indian Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, assured the Dubai headquarters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the largest professional organization in the UAE, that the UAE has the audacity to defy uncertainty, by strengthening its ties with the international community, and will overcome the current situation faster than expected.
“Indians residing in the UAE consider the UAE their homeland,” Sivan told more than 500 accounting professionals who attended a meeting in Dubai. “Adversity is not new to Dubai or the UAE. The country courageously faced the 2008 global financial crisis and the Covid-19 pandemic, and came back strong from every crisis.” This time, too, you will recover from the current situation faster than some might imagine.
He added: “When we wanted to communicate with the community, the first group of professionals that came to our mind were chartered accountants, who have a better understanding of the situation than others.”
The Dubai headquarters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India recently elected a new Management Committee for the period 2026-2027 led by chartered accountant Rishi Chawla as the new chair, supported by chartered accountant Amit Khaitan as vice-chairman, chartered accountant Ashna Mulgaonkar as secretary, and chartered accountant Sanjay Gagarani as treasurer.
