Ukraine’s president arrived in Rome for talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in an attempt to convince European allies to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses against Russian strikes.
“At the moment, Ukraine’s main diplomatic priority is cooperation in the field of air defense,” Vladimir Zelensky wrote on Platform X.
Zelensky is also trying to involve European countries in the PURL program, which allows Ukraine to receive American weapons with European funding.
Italy has already supplied weapons, including the Franco-Italian SAMP/T air defense system, but has not yet joined the PURL program.
