“We must pray with our bodies”: Madonna announces the release of Confessions II, a “spiritual” album

The queen of pop will unveil the fifteenth album of her career on July 3, composed of 17 songs with a “dancefloor” spirit. A first teaser is available on YouTube.

The queen of pop is not running out of steam. On July 3, Madonna will unveil Confessions IIthe fifteenth studio album of his career. In a press release relayed Wednesday afternoon, the American singer’s teams present this brand new project as “a true legacy of the iconic Confesssions on a Dance Floor »a record released in November 2005 by Warner Records and certified platinum five times.

The singer, now 67 years old, took advantage of this announcement to reveal a first extract. On YouTube, fans of the singer The Beautiful Island can already discover the first minute of the song I Feel So Freeone of the seventeen tracks expected on the disc. The Apple Music platform also broadcasts an eight-second teaser in which Madonna appears in purple underwear under a light pink sheet.

A record for the “dancefloor”

The press release relayed by Warner Records and the Parlophone label reveals the lyrics of what should be the introductory track of Confessions II. Titled One Step Awaythis song summarizes, according to the artist, the atmosphere and artistic direction of the record, his first in seven years. “People think dance music is superficial, but they’re wrong all along/The dance floor is not just a place, it’s a threshold: a ritual space where movement replaces language”she explains.

The pop diva makes a wish: “We must dance, celebrate and pray with our bodies”through “true spiritual exercises” which are the very essence of the dancefloor, she judges. This spirit shines through on the album cover, where the American star poses on a cubic stage pierced with speakers. Her teams also shared a photo of her in sky blue underwear with both a chrome and silver jacket. As usual, Madonna highlights her legendary blonde hair and embraces her “bad girl” side with her pair of sunglasses.
