Culture, Odescalchi (Adsi): “Historic homes, economic engine and protection of the territories”

“There are 46 thousand historic homes throughout our nation and they represent a cultural, economic and employment safeguard. We define ourselves as the largest and most widespread museum in Italy, because these places are true safeguards on the territories, particularly in the internal areas.” These are the words of Maria Pace Odescalchi, president of the Italian Historic Houses Association, on the occasion of the 49th ADSI Assembly, entitled “Private heritage, public value: the role of historic homes for the country system”, held at the Teatro Argentina in Rome.

Odescalchi, in addition to underlining the strategic role of these realities in the socio-economic fabric of the country, explained that the impact of historic homes extends well beyond the protection of heritage: “They are economic drivers for the restoration chain, for tourism and for all activities related to hospitality. Entire local economic ecosystems develop around these realities”. Hence the appeal to strengthen the relationship with the institutions: “Collaboration between public and private is fundamental to concretely oversee the territory and support the restart of internal areas. Only by working together will it be possible to fully enhance these places and give new development prospects to many communities”.
