Pakistani Foreign Ministry: negotiations continue, peace in Lebanon is necessary for their success

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement following the visit to Tehran of the commander of the armed forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, the main mediator between the United States and Iran.

It notes that for the negotiations to succeed, it is necessary to achieve peace in Levan. According to the Foreign Ministry, the ceasefire agreement also applies to Lebanon. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry emphasized that the date for the next round of negotiations between the US and Iran has not yet been determined.

A senior Iranian official reported progress but stressed that fundamental differences remain. First of all, they concern Iran’s right to enrich uranium.

“The visit of the Pakistani commander-in-chief played an important role in smoothing over differences, but in the nuclear sphere they remain. However, there is more hope that the ceasefire will be extended and a second round will take place,” he said.
