You have until next Monday, April 20, to complete the connection between the telematic recorders (Rt) they electronic payment tools which were already in use on 1 January 2026 or which were used between 1 and 31 January 2026. This is a “virtual” matching through an online service available free of charge in the reserved area of the Revenue Agency website.
To support operators and their intermediaries, a dedicated guide is available, which explains step by step how to proceed, and some FAQs for clarification. The connection obligation, introduced by Budget Law 2025 for operations carried out from 1 January 2026, it was implemented with a provision from the Agency, followed by the activation of a specific web service.
How to connect rt and pos
To combine telematic registers and POS, the merchant, also through a delegated intermediary, must access the portal “Invoices and fees” and associate, via the “Connection Management” service, the serial number of the electronic recorder already registered in the Tax Registry with the identification data of electronic payment instruments of which he is the owner. To make the operation easier, the merchant is shown the list of electronic payment instruments he owns, previously communicated to the Agency by the financial operators. In the event that the electronic storage and telematic transmission of daily fee data are not carried out via a telematic recorder but using the Agency’s web procedure (“Online Commercial Document”), the connection can be created via the same service.
Deadlines to be respected
For payment instruments already in use on 1 January 2026 or used between 1 and 31 January 2026, there is a term of 45 days starting from 5 March 2026: there is time to complete the registration, therefore, until next Monday, April 20th. For the first association or for any variations, however, the combination must be carried out starting from the sixth day of the second month following the date of actual availability of the electronic payment instrument and in any case by the last working day of the same month. So if a new POS starts operating in March, it will have to be connected to the telematic register between 6 and 31 May.
An operational guide available to operators
To make it easier for merchants to use the service, lRevenue Agency, on its website, made one available in February operational guide in which, also through images and tables, the steps to complete the pairing are illustrated. Also on the Agency’s website, the FAQs dedicated to various topics can be consulted: for example the possibility of connecting the same payment instrument to multiple electronic cash registers; the exclusion from the obligation for merchants who use the POS exclusively for payments relating to operations exempt from the obligation to issue the commercial document; the identifiers of the electronic payment instruments necessary to make the connection.
