Lebanon denounces being dragged into a war it did not choose and hopes to recover territory through diplomacy

The Lebanese authorities have once again denounced the war launched by Israel in the context of the conflict in Iran, insisting that it is a war that the country did not choose and that it hopes to be able to recover through diplomatic means the territory taken by the Israeli Army.

“Lebanon had been dragged into a war that it did not choose. The Government remains committed to recovering the ability to decide on war and peace, as well as to assert its sovereignty over the entire Lebanese territory,” said the Lebanese Foreign Minister, Yusef Ragi, in a message on social networks after a call with his Australian counterpart, Penny Wong.

Likewise, Ragi has stressed his desire that Lebanon can “recover the occupied territories” and that the “withdrawal of Israel” from southern Lebanon takes place, through negotiation with Tel Aviv.

In the context of the call, the Lebanese minister thanked Australia for the support shown to the Lebanese Executive to “extend sovereignty over its entire territory”, and to restore stability and security in the area, in the midst of the negotiations launched with the mediation of the United States. Australia has also opened up to sending humanitarian supplies to the Arab country.
