Salary missing from job advertisement? So many companies ignore the law

For 15 years, since March 11, 2011 to be exact Job advertisements in Austria Minimum wage contain. That is, the minimum salary or wage (usually regulated by a collective agreement) that is provided for a position, including the time unit (hour, week or month). But to this day there are still job advertisements that come with no salary information at all. There are quite a few, as a new analysis by karriere.at shows.

Eight percent report no salary

Eight percent of job advertisements on the job platform in 2025 did not contain any salary information. The value falls by around one percentage point every year – in 2024 it was nine percent, in 2023 it was ten percent.

What is exciting is that, in return, job advertisements with salary ranges are increasing and have recently experienced a real boom. In 2023, the proportion of advertisements that listed a minimum and maximum amount was eight percent. The following year it was nine percent and most recently it was 14 percent. Job offers that contain a minimum or even an actual salary, as required by law, are currently at 78 percent.

No salary, no interest

Overall, the expected salary is an important criterion for job seekers – nine out of ten people say that. Therefore, it is the most important factor in whether or not to apply for a job. If you don’t see a specific number when skimming through a job advertisement, you won’t bother with a job advertisement any further, the job platform says. Transparent salary information would therefore not only be legally binding, but also a clear competitive advantage.
