Archbishop Bagrat’s detention was extended for another 2 months

The judge, after listening to the defense and prosecution sides, stated that the risks of obstructing the proceedings, committing a crime have not disappeared at the moment, and alternative means of prevention “will not be able to ensure the proper legal behavior of the former leader of the Diocese of Tavush”.

After this statement by the judge, Archbishop Bagrat, who is accused of terrorism and attempted seizure of power, did not comment on the prolongation of his detention, only complained that the accusers continue to address him by a secular name, considering it an insult. The prosecutor responded that this is a secular trial and they do not intend to offend anyone.

Galstanyan does not accept the accusation attributed to him.

At the moment, out of the 18 defendants in this case, only Reverend Bagrat and Vahagn Chakhalyan are in custody. Deputy Artur Sargsyan and 4 others are under house arrest, the others are at liberty.

Galstanyan’s detention was extended in February.
