The number of open jobs has halved since 2022

Open the number of jobs has decreased rapidly in recent years, says Statistics Finland.

In the last quarter of last year, there were about 22,700 open jobs, which is about 31 percent less than at the same time the year before.

In the whole of last year, there were an average of 34,100 open jobs, i.e. 22 percent less than in 2024.

“Last year, there were the fewest vacancies since 2016. Compared to the level of 2022, the number of vacancies has halved”, Chief Actuary of the Statistics Finland Matti Lahdenmäki says in the announcement.

The end of the year 30 percent of the open jobs were temporary and 16 percent were part-time.

A total of 43 percent of open jobs last year were temporary employment relationships. The share of these increased by six percentage points compared to the previous year.

Last year, the most jobs were available in Helsinki and Uusimaa, where there were a total of 12,400 open jobs. The number of jobs also decreased more moderately in Helsinki and Uusimaa than in the rest of Finland.

The number of jobs decreased the most in the greater Western Finland area, where there were 34 percent fewer jobs compared to the previous year.

Finland the unemployment rate was higher in November than in any other member state of the European Union.

Eurostat, the statistical authority of the European Union in January based on published data, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in November.
