The book helps business people use and exploit data

The publication, released by the Science – Technology – Communications Publishing House (Ministry of Science and Technology), is the work of the author group Ho Tu Bao, Pham Thi Viet Huong, Tran Thi Oanh, Tran Duc Quynh and Le Duc Thinh. The book was introduced on the occasion of the 5th Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 18).

The core of the book lies in the PDMT approach, which stands for Problem, Data, Methods and Tools. Instead of starting from technology or algorithms, the book starts from a specific business problem, then shows in turn what data is needed, what methods to use and what tools to deploy.

This approach helps business people answer two important questions: where to start and how to do it. This is also a problem many businesses encounter when switching to data-based operations.

Not stopping at theory, the book goes into familiar fields such as finance, production, marketing, sales, customers and human resources. Each problem is specifically illustrated, clearly indicating the type of data required, analysis methods and implementation tools. Readers can visualize and apply immediately in practice.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, member in charge of the Central Steering Committee for science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, the book directly approaches practical issues, helping from students to managers to approach the digital economy more effectively.

From a business perspective, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh commented that PDMT is a practical and easy-to-apply method. This way helps businesses move from emotion-based management to data-based management, thereby creating a competitive advantage in the context of fast-growing digital transformation and artificial intelligence.

Meanwhile, Professor Tran Van Tho (Waseda University, Japan) assessed that the book’s approach is not only suitable for Vietnam but also has broad reference value, helping to answer the question of how businesses can become “smart” in the digital age.
