Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Delicity… the remuneration of meal delivery drivers in France revealed, platform by platform

The French regulatory authority for delivery platforms noted this Friday, April 24, that the hourly income of independent delivery drivers was “still under pressure” in 2025, declining on all platforms analyzed with the exception of Uber Eats.

The British Deliveroo thus saw the gross hourly remuneration of its delivery drivers fall by 2.4% over one year to stand at 25.7 euros, while that of Stuart’s couriers fell by 5% to reach 22.7 euros.

At the meal delivery company Delicity, hourly income fell by 0.7% in 2025 to 35.4 euros per hour, the highest level in the panel of the Authority for Social Relations of Employment Platforms (ARPE).

The latter, however, notes an inflection on the part of the Uber Eats platform, which in 2025 recorded an increase of 4.7% in its gross hourly ride income, reaching 21.5 euros. This is its first increase in hourly income since the start of ARPE observations in 2021.

Overall degradation

In its annual report published this Friday, the public establishment indicates that the overall downward trend in hourly remuneration over the past five years is explained in particular by a continued increase in the time of each race. However, these longer journeys are rarely compensated by an increase in the unit rate paid to the delivery person, explains the ARPE.

This “gross hourly race income”, based on platform declarations, corresponds to the ratio between the average income earned per service and the duration of the service, reduced to one hour. It does not take into account the waiting time between two orders, nor the social charges and contributions paid by these self-employed workers, which greatly overestimates their real net income, according to the authority.

Over the entire period 2021-2025, the deterioration remains notable for all the major platforms in the sector. Gross hourly income fell by 22.4% for Uber Eats, 21.5% for Stuart and 15.0% for Deliveroo in the space of five years. These declines turn out to be even more pronounced when taking into account inflation: -31.7% for Uber Eats since 2021 and -25.2% for Deliveroo.

According to a survey carried out in 2025 by Médecins du Monde and several research centers among a thousand delivery workers, 98% were born abroad and 64% are without a residence permit. They work on average 63 hours per week for 1,480 euros gross monthly, according to this study.
