British planes were launched after a Russian drone strike penetrated Romanian territory

While the Ministry of Defense in Bucharest initially announced that the British pilots had made radar contact with a target one and a half kilometers from Reni and received permission to hit the UAVs over the territory of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense in London hastened to publish a clarification. The British emphasized that contrary to reports, the fighter jets returned to their base without attacking the Russian forces and without crossing into the airspace of Ukraine.

The authorities had to evacuate the area for fear that the fragments contained explosives. Even though the remains of UAVs have already fallen in Romania before, this is the first time that real damage has been caused to property in the country. The Romanian Ministry of Defense strongly condemned the incident, defining Moscow’s actions as “irresponsible” that constitute “a new challenge to security and stability in the Black Sea”.
