Plane crash in South Sudan, 14 dead

A CityLink Aviation Cessna 208 Caravan crashed in South Sudan, killing 14 people, Al Jazeera reported, citing the country’s civil aviation authority.

The plane was operating a domestic flight from Yei to Juba. According to aviation authorities, contact with the crew was lost approximately 30 minutes after takeoff, Interfax notes.

The plane crash occurred in the Luri area, about 20 km southwest of Juba. There were 13 passengers and a pilot on board – 12 South Sudanese citizens and two Kenyans. They all died.

Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of the disaster could have been unfavorable weather conditions, in particular poor visibility.
