Meta prepares personal and business agents powered by the Muse Spark model, in addition to increasing your investment

Meta is working on a new type of personal agents designed to help users “achieve their various goals,” along with new business agents to help entrepreneurs, which will be powered by the recently introduced Muse Spark model.

The company led by Mark Zuckerberg presented its financial results for the first quarter this Wednesday, where it has recorded a net profit of 26.8 billion dollars (around 22.92 billion euros at the exchange rate), 61 percent more than the previous year in this period.

Along with its results, the technology company has also shared some of its forecasts for the near future, among which is a new set of personal AI agents, focused on helping users achieve their goals.

This was shared by Zuckerberg himself in the presentation of the results with investors, to which Engadget has had access, where he explained that his objective “is not only to offer Meta AI as an assistant”, but agents capable of understanding users’ goals and “working day and night” to achieve them.

As the CEO of Meta has clarified, from this perspective, it is creating a personal agent, which will be powered by its latest recently presented Muse Spark AI model, which has advanced reasoning capacity and visual intelligence, approaching artificial superintelligence.

Following this line, the company has also shared that it is developing a business agent, focused on “helping entrepreneurs and companies around the world” to use its third-party tools and options to “expand their businesses, reach new customers and offer better service.”

Although Zuckerberg has not shared when he plans to unveil these new personal agents, he has detailed that his objective with this is to make this type of services more accessible than current agentic AI platforms such as OpenClaw, about which he has pointed out that “it offers a very interesting glimpse of what should be possible”, but its use is “quite complicated.”

Therefore, Meta aims to offer agentic AI options with a “much more polished, precise and easy” experience, under a ready-to-use infrastructure for users.

INCREASE IN INVESTMENT AND LOSSES IN THE METAVERSE

In addition to all this, Zuckerberg has also announced in his conference call that they are increasing their “forecast of capital expenditures on infrastructure for this year”, under their intention to continue betting on the development of AI technologies.

As explained, this is mainly due to the increase in component costs, referring to the memory shortage crisis that the technology sector is going through, as reported by TechCrunch.

Specifically, the technology company has anticipated annual capital expenditures of between 125,000 and 145,000 million dollars, which exceed the estimates provided by analysts and by the company itself, according to Bloomberg.

In this framework, Meta has detailed that it is not offering a “specific forecast for capital spending in 2027” in order to analyze what its capacity needs will be “in the coming years.” “Our experience so far has shown us that we have continually underestimated our computing needs,” said Meta’s CFO, Susan Li.

Recently, the company that owns Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram also announced the dismissal of 10 percent of its workforce, which represents around 8,000 employees, as part of its effort to “manage the company more efficiently and to compensate for other investments.”

The earnings report also records a loss of more than $4 billion in its division in charge of the metaverse and virtual reality, Reality Labs. This result follows a line of losses in this division during the results of previous years.

It is worth remembering that Meta has been making cuts at Reality Labs in recent months. At the beginning of the year it laid off more than a thousand employees, around 10 percent of its workforce, made up of about 15,000 workers.

In addition, it discontinued three video game and virtual reality application development studios and announced the closure of Quest’s Horizon Worlds platform as of June 15, to focus on mobile applications.
