The European Parliament called for linking assistance to the PA with the exclusion of anti-Semitism propaganda from textbooks

The European Parliament has backed a resolution calling on the European Commission to stop allocating funds to the Palestinian Authority until it removes material that promotes anti-Semitism and violence from textbooks.

This is the seventh time such a resolution has been adopted. In 2024, the Palestinian Authority committed to amending educational materials, but nothing has been done. Textbooks continue to promote hatred of Jews and martyrdom during jihad.

Thus, the new edition of the textbook on Islamic education for the 12th grade calls jihad a religious duty necessary for the liberation of “Zionist-occupied Palestine.” There is also talk about exercising the right to return with arms in hand.

The resolution was adopted as part of the mechanism for controlling budget allocations. It is declarative in nature, but is an important indicator of the mood of European politicians.
