The door known from the movie Only Love is being auctioned, the reason being annoying tourists

One one of the most famous doors in romantic film history is going on sale at the beginning of May in Britain.

Only love (2003) on Richard Curtisin directed romantic comedy, which has become a beloved Christmas classic over the years.

The film follows several intertwining love stories, and its star cast includes, among others Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Liam Neeson and Keira Knightley.

One of the film’s most iconic scenes takes place in front of a white door. In the scene Mark (Andrew Lincoln) shows up on Juliet’s (Knightley) doorstep and professes her love with handwritten signs – despite Juliet being her best friend Peter’s (Chiwetel Ejiofor) wife.

From the scene the familiar door is located in London’s Notting Hill and has become a popular attraction over the years. However, the owner of the house is tired of the constant flow of tourists and has decided to give up the door. A British online magazine The Independentin people gather daily in front of the house to photograph the door, often even peeking in through the house’s windows.

According to the representative of the auction, the owner was happy to participate in the making of the film, but now hopes to find peace in his everyday life by giving up the door, reports The Independent.

In an interview previously published by the British Express magazine, the owner said that he bought the house in 2006 without knowing about its popularity and connection to the film. “I was once asked why there is no coffee for sale. People think this is Disneyland,” he said comment For Express magazine in 2023.
