The clothing company Papu Design, which went bankrupt in the fall, is coming back

In autumn the bankrupt clothing company Papu Design is making a comeback.

A group of domestic investors have bought the Papu brand from bankruptcy and founded Papu Group oy. The managing director is someone familiar from the fashion industry Tuomo Saarni. Papu’s original entrepreneurs are also involved Anna and Jussi Kurkela.

Jussi Kurkela, acting as the chairman of the board, believes that the company has learned from the speed blindness brought by too fast growth and the mistakes that followed. Anna Kurkela works as a creative director in the company.

In the future, Studio APD will be responsible for Papu’s product design Annmari Pietiläinen and Paulina Westman.

Papu Design was founded in 2014. It was a pioneer in the boom of small Finnish fashion brands.

Papu initially became popular with domestic children’s clothes. It later expanded into a women’s clothing line. In 2024, it gave up children’s clothing completely.
